Individual Psychoherapy

Healing and Growth Begin in Relationship

At Jane Frisch Counseling, I believe that meaningful change begins with understanding ourselves and the relationships that shape our lives. I offer individual therapy to adults (18+) in Pennsylvania and Delaware, providing a warm, collaborative space to explore your experiences, deepen self-understanding, and discover new ways of relating to yourself and others.

You may be struggling with anxiety, depression, burnout, relationship difficulties, or uncertainty about your life or career. Together, we’ll explore how past experiences and relationship patterns may influence your thoughts, feelings, and choices in the present. Rather than focusing only on managing symptoms, our work will help you develop greater insight, navigate challenges with more confidence and self-compassion, and build more fulfilling relationships.

I believe the therapeutic relationship itself is an important part of the process. My goal is to create a compassionate, nonjudgmental environment where you feel understood and supported as we explore difficult experiences at a pace that feels right for you. Through this work, you can begin to recognize familiar patterns, consider new perspectives, and develop greater freedom in how you respond to yourself and others.

Because our work lives are closely connected to our identities, relationships, and emotional well-being, career concerns are also a meaningful part of my practice. Whether you’re feeling unfulfilled at work, navigating a career transition, or struggling to balance professional and personal demands, we can explore how your work fits into the broader picture of your life. When appropriate, I also draw on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help you clarify your values and make choices that align with what matters most to you.

My hope is that therapy offers you an opportunity not only to work through current challenges, but also to develop a deeper understanding of yourself, create more meaningful connections, and move toward a life that feels more authentic and fulfilling.

Your Questions Answered

Therapy is a journey, and it’s natural to have questions. Here are some common inquiries to help you understand the process better.

What can I expect during my first session?

During your first session, we’ll discuss your goals and concerns. It’s an opportunity to get to know each other and establish a comfortable, trusting environment.

Is everything I share kept confidential?

Yes, confidentiality is a cornerstone of therapy. Your privacy is protected, and information is only shared with your consent or as required by law.

How long does therapy usually last?

The duration of therapy varies for each individual. Some clients find resolution in a few sessions, while others benefit from longer-term support. Clients get the most benefit from consistently attending weekly sessions.

What if I feel nervous about starting therapy?

Feeling nervous is completely normal. Remember, therapy is a safe space designed to support you, and we’ll work together at your pace.

Can therapy help with career transitions?

Absolutely. Therapy can provide valuable insights and strategies to help you navigate career changes and make informed decisions.

How do I know if therapy is working?

Progress in therapy can be seen through improved mood, better coping strategies, and a greater sense of well-being. However, you may sometimes feel an increase in symptoms in response to our work together. This is a normal and expected part of therapy. We’ll regularly review your goals to ensure you’re on track.
