Individual Therapy
Guiding You Through Life’s Challenges, One Step at a Time
At Jane Frisch Counseling, I believe that every individual has the potential to thrive and achieve their goals. Our individual therapy sessions are designed to empower you to uncover your strengths and navigate the complexities of life with confidence. Whether you are facing personal challenges or seeking to enhance your career, our compassionate approach will guide you toward meaningful change. I understand that each journey is unique, and we are committed to providing personalized support tailored to your specific needs. Together, we will explore your aspirations and work towards creating a fulfilling life that resonates with your true self.
I offer individual therapy to adults (18+) in Pennsylvania and Delaware.
I specialize in helping clients who are experiencing anxiety and depression by providing a supportive space to explore emotions and develop coping skills. I also help clients manage work-life problems by identifying stressors, teaching them how to set healthy boundaries and by fostering resilience. Additionally, I can help clients address relationship issues, including those related to work stressors, by helping them improve their communication skills and offering tools to navigate challenges.
I use a psychodynamic approach which includes building a strong and empathetic relationship with the client, and then helping them explore how their past experiences influence their current thoughts and behaviors. Gaining insight into this process can help clients learn to function better in both their personal and work lives and lead to the creation of a more satisfying, meaningful life.
Using tools from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, I also encourage clients to explore what is important to them, and I help them practice making decisions about how to spend their time to support those values. In my experience, when a client can align their daily activities with their values, they describe their life as less stressful and more fulfilling.
Your Questions Answered
Therapy is a journey, and it’s natural to have questions. Here are some common inquiries to help you understand the process better.
What can I expect during my first session?
During your first session, we’ll discuss your goals and concerns. It’s an opportunity to get to know each other and establish a comfortable, trusting environment.
Is everything I share kept confidential?
Yes, confidentiality is a cornerstone of therapy. Your privacy is protected, and information is only shared with your consent or as required by law.
How long does therapy usually last?
The duration of therapy varies for each individual. Some clients find resolution in a few sessions, while others benefit from longer-term support. Clients get the most benefit from consistently attending weekly sessions.
What if I feel nervous about starting therapy?
Feeling nervous is completely normal. Remember, therapy is a safe space designed to support you, and we’ll work together at your pace.
Can therapy help with career transitions?
Absolutely. Therapy can provide valuable insights and strategies to help you navigate career changes and make informed decisions.
How do I know if therapy is working?
Progress in therapy can be seen through improved mood, better coping strategies, and a greater sense of well-being. However, you may sometimes feel an increase in symptoms in response to our work together. This is a normal and expected part of therapy. We’ll regularly review your goals to ensure you’re on track.
