Couples Counseling
Navigating Life’s Challenges Together
At Jane Frisch Counseling, I believe that every couple has the potential to thrive. Couples counseling is not just about resolving conflicts; it’s about rediscovering the joy of connection and intimacy. I create a safe space for you to explore your relationship dynamics, allowing you to express your thoughts and feelings openly. Together, we will work on enhancing your emotional intelligence, enabling you to understand not only your partner’s needs but also your own. As you embark on this journey, you will gain tools that empower you to navigate challenges with resilience and compassion. Let’s take this transformative step together, fostering a partnership that is not only enduring but also deeply fulfilling.
I offer couples therapy to adults (18+) in Pennsylvania and Delaware.
My work with couples is guided by the principles of Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) which is a structured approach designed to help couples strengthen their emotional bond and improve their relationship. EFT is based on the idea that strong emotional connections are essential for a healthy relationship. It focuses on identifying and changing patterns of interaction that create distance or conflict between partners.
Key Components of EFT:
- Understanding Emotions: EFT helps you recognize and express your feelings. Many couples struggle with sharing their emotions, which can lead to misunderstandings.
- Attachment Theory: The therapy is grounded in attachment theory, which suggests that our early relationships shape how we connect with others. EFT aims to create a secure emotional bond between partners.
- Cycle of Interaction: We’ll work together to identify negative patterns in your interactions, such as withdrawal or criticism. Understanding these cycles is crucial for change.
- Building Connection: The goal is to foster a deeper emotional connection. You’ll learn how to communicate your needs and respond to your partner’s feelings in a supportive way.
EFT is a supportive and collaborative process, aimed at helping you both feel heard and valued in the relationship. It’s about building a deeper connection and creating lasting change. Some of the benefits of EFT include improved communication, enhanced conflict resolution, a stronger, more secure bond and greater emotional understanding of yourself and your partner.
